National Inspection takes the protection of personal information very seriously. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and what your rights are.
Last updated: September 2026
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to personal information collected by National Inspection through its website, by email, by phone and in the course of its inspection assignments. It complies with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
2. Person in charge of the protection of personal information
For any question, request or complaint regarding your personal information, please contact:

3. Information we collect
Through our website
When you use the request form, we collect your name, your email address and the content of your message. We only collect the information needed to process your request.
By email or by phone
We keep the contact details and information you send us in order to respond to your request and follow up on the assignment.
During an inspection
When an insurer, broker or property manager gives us an assignment, we receive and collect the information needed for the inspection: the name and contact details of the person to contact, the property address, on-site observations and photographs of the building. Whenever possible, we avoid photographing people or personal belongings that are not relevant to the risk assessment.
4. Why we use this information
We use your information only to:
- respond to your requests and schedule inspections;
- carry out the inspection and prepare the report for the client who gave us the assignment;
- handle administrative follow-up and billing;
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising or marketing purposes.
5. Consent
By sending us your information, you consent to its use for the purposes described above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to the person in charge, subject to legal or contractual obligations that require us to keep certain information. Withdrawing your consent may, however, prevent us from processing your request.
6. Disclosure to third parties
Your information is shared only with the people and organizations that need it:
- the client who gave us the inspection assignment (insurer, broker or property manager), to whom the report is delivered;
- the inspectors assigned to the file, who are bound by confidentiality;
- our technology service providers, such as our web and email hosting provider, who have access to the information only to provide their services;
- authorities, when required by law.
7. Where information is stored
Information sent through the website and by email is stored on the servers of our technology providers, which may be located outside Québec. In such cases, we ensure, as required by law, that the information receives adequate protection.
When you visit our site, your browser downloads fonts from Google’s servers, which may be located outside Québec. As with any web page, Google then receives your device’s IP address. No other information is transmitted this way.
8. Cookies and tracking technologies
Our site does not use advertising cookies, visitor analytics tools or any technology that can identify you, locate you or build a profile of you. As with any website, our hosting provider may keep technical logs (IP address, date and time of visit) needed for the security and proper operation of the site.
9. Retention period
We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or to meet our legal and contractual obligations. At the end of that period, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, including limiting access to those who need it, protecting our accounts with passwords and requiring our inspectors to maintain confidentiality.
11. Confidentiality incidents
In the event of unauthorized access to, use of or disclosure of personal information, we act promptly to limit the consequences. If the incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the affected individuals and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. All incidents are recorded in a register.
12. Your rights
You have the right to:
- know whether we hold information about you and access it;
- have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
- withdraw your consent;
- receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
To exercise these rights, write to the person in charge (section 2). We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on your request.
13. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your information, send a written complaint to the person in charge. We will review it and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
14. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always posted on this page, along with the date of its last update.
